Animal body fluids and their regulation. by A. P. M. Lockwood Download PDF EPUB FB2

Animal Body Fluids and their Regulation is designed to introduce the student to some of the reasons why the composition of the bathing medium is so important and to the manner in which it is maintained.

Examples are given to show how the problems involved in maintenance vary with the environment, and to show the nature of the solution of these problems adopted by most of the major groups of : A. Lockwood. Animal body fluids and their regulation, however, has not so far been satisfactorily covered.

This book fills an important gap and should be especially useful to scholarship candidates and first year university students. Additional Physical Format: Online version: Lockwood, A.P.M.

Lecture on Body Fluids. Define some key terms related to the regulation of body fluids: I. Internal environment – the fluid environment that bathes the cells (extracellular fluid) composed of the interstitial fluid and blood.

Osmolarity – solute concentration expressed in milliosmoles per liter of solution (mOsm/L). Teacher Tip The presentation of the topic on Regulation of Body.

- Most marine animals are osmoconformers - Usually cannot tolerate a large change in body salinity, and therefore live in environments where salinity doesn't change much (organisms. About two-thirds is in the intracellular fluid compartment (ICF). The intracellular fluid is the fluid within the cells of the body.

The remaining one-third of body water is outside cells, in the extracellular fluid compartment (ECF). The ECF is the body’s internal environment and the cells external environment.
